Bad Habit

Project Brief

“We all have bad habits. If you have ever tried to break a bad habit you know they are difficult to break. The habits are formed over many years and we automatically slip into these patterns of behaviour when we wake up. As individuals we attribute these habits to ourselves; ‘I play games too much’; ‘I smoke too much’; ‘I am lazy’; ‘I procrastinate’; I don’t drink enough water. Whilst these behaviours feel personal, most bad behaviours are common, they affect not only you but other people as well. In this project you are required to develop an app for behaviour change. Behaviour change is a process, a framework through which to create new habits or to break old ones. In this framework there are four sequential stages that are required to create a new habit: cue; craving; response and; reward (James Clears’ model for behaviour change). Together these stages form a feedback loop, an endless cycle that motivates us to maintain the new habit

The Problem

Couldn’t have a enough sleep because of overthinking and stress before sleeping.

The Consequence

This problem causes to wander on social media applications for long periods. Thus, people have sleep less at night and reduced sleep quality due to the blue light exposures from smart phone.

The Possible Solution

In order to distract the attention from unnecessary thoughts, the user begins to practice the meditation exercises via the application. (5, 10 or 15 mins).

Four Laws Of Behaviour Change
How can I make it obvious?
A reminder or a notification from the application.
How can I make it attractive?
An interface that displays the average sleep time and mood stats since the user started using the application.
How can I make it easy?
Daily content recommendations on the homepage for the user’s goals
How can I make it satisfying?
Better mood, more energetic, clearer mind
